I have been reading about some of your problems. It seems every team has an issue with players coming to practice vs. the "super star" mentality. I play for the Cougars and have since the good old Bear-Cougar Rivalry. Though as I recall when we won it was barely and when you won it was handly. In attempt to gain better athletes we allowed "super stars" to show up when they wanted, take someone's job when they decided to show for a game, and allowed back talk and the hated; "I'm a man" crap when the player was told to do a drill.
We spent from 02-to 05 weeding out these players. Talk crap, your gone. Go be someone else's headache. We took slow white boys that worked hard and allowed them to progress as players. They were never "super stars" and we never want them to be, but they are hardworking. Our average practice has about 28 players. Some are good, some are crap. But they ALL work. I want those days of old back. I want to have a team that we can rival. (might be this year, we still have gaps in talent. LOL) But I would rather go 0-8 with a team of comrades that I enjoyed battling with than a group of loud mouthed thugs that only run there mouth on how good they are and cover their mistakes by blaming the other players on the field.
Semi-pro will always have the same woes. Poor practice attendence, no money, ect. But if you slowly weed out the mouths and attitudes you will turn things around. I'm not saying we are a superior club. All I am saying is we have elimnated some of the problems it seems your having now.
