I am writing to make my official retirement. Walking away from football, as a player, is one of the hardest decisions that I have had to make. I have truly enjoyed playing for the Decatur Bears. We might not have been very good the last couple of years but at least we tried. I have made many friends through semi-pro football. I hope that all the friends that I have made remain close.
Bill- Don't let anyone tell you did a bad job. You did the best you could with what we had. You are the hardest working person I have ever seen associated with a semi-pro team. You and your family are the reason I stayed a season longer than I should have. Good luck to you in the future.
Good luck against the Spirit. I wish I could be there but I have alot of stuff going on that takes precedence over football. Just play together, have fun and winning will take care of itself. Don't worry about what is said on a message board. Take care of business and build for next season. I hope that everyone comes back and helps rebuild the Bears. This team has a lot going for it- young players, a nice stadium, and history. I will see everyone at the banquet if we have one.
Brett, I charish the time i spent with you on the football field. Your a great player and a good friend to have. I hope your future wherever you go is full of joy and money! I know you will be sucessful whatever you do. Good luck to you and your family. Wish i could of played a few more years with you. Old age is tough ha ha. I guess you'll find out. Your old buddy Kurt
my hat is off to u bret.i only wish i had half the heart and dedication u have.good luck to u and the family u are i my prays.u never know u might find ur self back in pads with old player playing in the playoffs next year
I'm glad that I got to play ball with you, Brett. You're a great example for everyone who plays semi-pro football. You played hard on every down, and you were willing to give useful pointers to stupid little rookies;) Things won't be the same without you at middle backer.
Take care Brett, and good luck with your teaching career. Don't let those kids give you any lip!
What do I say man? I'm not really sure. It truly has been an honor playing with you. When I think of the Bears, the first person I think of is you. In all honesty, you have made quite an impression on me. The pride and heart you took in on every snap is amazing. Losing you hurts, I am not going to lie. And I can not begin to apologize to you for how this year went. I'm sorry I didn't get you your ring. Thanks for always supporting and believing in me. If it means anything to you at all, I promise I will fight my heart out for the Bears this weekend and try and get a victory for you. Best of in all your endeavors. Truly, Dom Salvo
WELL...QUITE A SURPRISE MR. ROBERTS. I AGREE W/ EVERYONE WHO HAS REPLIED. WE ONLY PLAYED TOGETHER FOR ONE YEAR AND I HAD MORE FUN IN THAT ONE YEAR THAN THE YEAR WE WON IT ALL. YOU ARE INDEED A GREAT MIDDLE LINE BACKER THE BEST I HAVE EVER PLAYED W/. AND LIKE ALL THE OTHERS MY FAMILY WISHES YOUR FAMILY NOTHING BUT THE BEST IN YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
